She Should Run™ Reaches Goal of 1000
“There cannot be true democracy unless women’s voices are heard.” – Hillary Rodham Clinton, July 11, 1997
America is one step closer to having a true democracy. The She Should Run™ campaign recently met their goal of 1,000 nominations!
Women from all walks of life have been nominated - lawyers, teachers, businesswomen, mothers and community activists. We have been thrilled not just by the number of people who have responded so positively about the campaign, but by the heartfelt and thoughtful nominations we’ve received time and time again.
Without this campaign we would not have been introduced to people like Tina Hone. Tina was a trial lawyer who traded the courtroom for the classroom in order to teach kids through the Teach for America program. After completing two years of teaching, she worked in various federal policy positions including serving as an Associate Secretary in the Clinton Administration. Once re-entering the private sector, Tina returned her focus to protecting underprivileged children. Tina’s experience with education, politics and her drive to make a difference made her a perfect nomination. She recently took the initiative to run for school board in Virginia and came out victorious, demonstrating her drive and determination to help children. Tina exemplifies a pro-choice women leader and is a true role model to other women who want to run for office.
We’ve already began the real work of reaching out to each and every one of the nominees and giving them the information, encouragement and support they need to make an informed decision about running for office. By supporting women up and down the ballot, we’re helping to build the pipeline for the future leaders of our country.
Just because we’ve met our goal doesn’t mean we’re stopping there. The campaign continues to receive nominations and we encourage everyone to continue submitting pro-choice women who should run for office
