General QuestionsWhat is SocialChange?
SocialChange, WCF’s online bundling program is an innovative and interactive campaign that lets users have a direct impact on the 2008 election by supporting pro-choice women candidates from now until November. SocialChange designed to be a hub and information source where women can ‘get together to give together’ and contribute directly to WCF endorsed pro-choice women candidates using online fundraising and networking tools.
How does WCF pick the candidates to feature on Social Change and how do I know the candidates support the issues I care about?
WCF ensures that all of these candidates meet our endorsement criteria, and favors women in challenging races who need your help to get elected. If you choose to give through an existing WCF page, know that WCF has researched all of the included candidates for their positions on the issues. WCF has also created a page for strong, pro-choice women candidates who are “Rising Stars” in the political arena.
Do the contributions I’ve made or raised on my page go directly to the candidates?
Yes! 100% of the contributions made through Social Change go directly to the candidates designated by participants.
How much money should I contribute? What should I encourage my friends and family to contribute when they join me?
WCF endorses pro-choice women candidates who are taking the lead on the issues women care about most. We believe that these women need to be able to count on your support from now until the election, so we recommend each participant make a recurring monthly contribution of at least $20 divided among all the candidates in your portfolio. This ensures these women receive money now, in the critical early period in their campaigns, and also ensures they can count on you as a long-term investor in their success.
What are the benefits of joining the Social Change?
WCF will invite you to exclusive conference calls to give you the inside track on the campaign trail from leading political experts, including pollsters and campaign analysts. WCF will keep you in the know on political news and views all the way up to Election Day. All this is in addition to the unique access you gain to candidate profiles on the WCF Web site—and a direct line to our organization should you need any information or assistance. Just email us at .
Can I invite my friends to contribute through my Social Change page?
Yes! Use the “Spread the Word” button on your fundraising page. You can enter your contacts individually, or you can import a list. Once you have entered your contacts, you send personalized emails to your friends and family to invite them to join you and start giving. Your email will contain the link to the fundraising page you created with the candidates you selected. You will be able to track those who join you—and send follow-up emails to thank them for their support.
How will my credit card be charged? Is the process secure?
The process is secure and your credit card will be charged by our technology provider, Democracy Engine. When you make your candidate selections, make contributions or refer friends, you will be on Democracy Engine’s Web site. Democracy Engine has features and functionality to ensure your security, such as asking you to verify your email address before you invite friends and family to join your Circle.
Once you are ready to contribute, you will be asked to enter your email address and credit card and billing information. A confirmation of your contribution will be emailed to you, and your credit card will show a charge from Democracy Engine.

How many candidates should I select?
Ideally you should select 3 to 5 candidates for your page. Pages with 5 candidates or less generally raise more money than those with more than 5 candidates. Your contributions will also have a bigger impact if they are divided among fewer candidates.
How do I select the candidates who support the issues I care about most?
Choose women from the WCF Candidate Resources directory. WCF has researched these leading pro-choice women candidates, their political races and the issues they support. We encourage you to read these profiles, so you can build your fundraising page with the candidates who support the issues you care about most.
